Red Beasts

The Red Beast Project was a 10-part mixed media exercise I engaged in. The primary goal was to push Cole’s skills and deepen their understanding of illustration. Over the course of the project, challenged themselves to improve with each new piece. The creatures depicted blend original designs with mythical folklore beasts, each carrying its own unique story

Programs/mediums used: Micron Pen, Photoshop.

Red Beast 1: The King
Red Beast 2: Mega Worm
Red Beast 3: Garden of Eden
Red Beast 4: The Flatwoods Monster
Red Beast 5: SnallyGaster
Red Beast 6: The Flying Meathook
Red Beast 7: Stormwalker
Red Beast 8: Not Deer
Red Beast 9: Bunyip
Red Beast 10: DAG

Initially, each layout was hand-drawn with the goal of achieving a vintage illustration style. As time went on, I began incorporating Photoshop to enhance each sketch, resulting in a collection of 10 beasts, ranging from giant worms to cosmic deities.

The Red Beast Project started, like many of my ideas, in a sketchbook. It later expanded into other projects, such as a screen print of the Snallygaster and a logo design. Unfortunately, what you see here is all that remains of those original sketches.
